Last night was the biggest Fashion event of the year: The Met Gala. Every year I get giddy waiting to see what my favorite celebs and designers bring to the (always changing/this year pink) carpet.
This year’s theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. If you want a better understanding behind the theme and how designers/celebrities interpreted it, check out
Vogue’s Youtube Channel where interviewers ask each celebrity what it means to them. I personally loved Madelaine Petsch and Jennifer Lopez’s responses!
Now let’s get into some of my personal favorite looks. I think I shouted “I’m deceased” several times last night because celebs like Ezra Miller, Lady Gaga, Janelle Monet, Billy Porter, and more, went above and BEYOND.
Gaga opened up the Gala with a SHOW STOPPER! She rocked 4 outfits on the pink carpet and each one was layered under the one before it. Lady Gaga is the definition of Camp and I don’t think I can choose a favorite from her four looks. She had me breathless and speechless.
I think my jaw hit the floor when Billy Porter arrived to the Met Gala being carried by 6 men like the King of Fashion he is. If you weren’t wow’ed by his Oscar’s look then this look HAD to leave you speechless. Billy Porter is wearing The Blonds.
There is nothing I love more than seeing a couple kill it together, especially when a man is not wearing a boring suit. Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse won my heart with this Alice in Wonderland esc look! They are both wearing Salvatore Ferragamo.
Another couple that had me swooning was Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. From Priyanka’s dress, to her tights, the pointed heel, her crown, and her make-up; I couldn’t choose a favorite part about it, all together it looks amazing and is super Camp. I love Nick’s mustache and his accessories…and the shoes…I freaking love his shoes. They are wearing Dior.
Janelle Monet and Christian Siriano DID NOT COME TO PLAY. This is hands down one of the BEST looks and one of the most CAMP looks. Please look up a video of her walking up the pink stairs because the eye on his chest BLINKS.
Rachel Brosnahan looked like a Camp Princess. Dressed in Erdem she had any fantasy lover swooning. Where can I sign up to run around in this dress through a secret garden holding a vintage lantern? This dress is in my type 5 favorite Met Gala looks.
Who doesn’t want to look like a Delicate Fairy to the Met Gala? Madelaine Petsch gave us stunning Tinker Bell vibes on the pink carpet last night. Dressed by Jean Paul Gaultier she walked up the stairs like an enchanting fairy.
Dressed in Versace Jennifer Lopez served Camp elegance on the pink carpet. She was dripping in diamonds and shimmer and in her Vogue interview she defined Camp as “what you would do when no one is looking, you know if everybody wasn’t judging all the time like who you would be.” and yes J Lo, I agree. I too would imagine myself dripping in diamond’s as my camp persona.
Josephine Skriver took my breath away with this stunning floral, high-low dress. Dressed by Jonathan Simkhai, she walked the pink carpet like a true flower child.
Cara Delevingne will always bring the fun and I was so eager to see what she would do with the Camp theme. It is safe to say I was not disappointed. Dressed in Dior, Cara brought color and…teeth to the pink carpet. There’s nothing I don’t love about this look.
Hamish Bowles said “toxic masculinity is dead” with this extravagant purple look. Personally I would have loved the look more without the cape but this IS the Met Gala we are talking about. You’re supposed to go big or go home. My favorite thing about this look is his jacket and trousers. Bowles wore Maison Margiela.
There is nothing more iconic than Jared Leto holding a replica of his own head down the Met Gala pink carpet. Dressed in a stunning, red Gucci dress Jared Leto rocked this look.
Kim Kardashian wow’ed the crowd as she dripped down the pink carpet. I cannot stop looking at how delicate the details of her look are. She looks like the goddess of water. Dressed in Mugler.
Last but certainly not least we have the AMAZING Ezra Miller. His Burberry suit was gorgeous on it’s own but his 7 eyes make-up look won the Met Gala this year for me. I cannot stop looking at his look, it’s as if he is casting a spell on me. It’s so good, so camp, and overall just amazing.
I could go on and on forever. Seriously I have so many more outfits on my hard drive that I could share and talk about but above are the ones that stood out to me and were the most mesmerizing. I’m sad that we now have 364 more days between us and the next Met Gala but we all know designers are already hard at work for their next year looks.
Who was you favorite?
Always Remember to Love Who You Are.
